putting decals on armour

I have some QRIH decals for my ferret and need some advice putting them on. I figure once on they should be coated with a clear coat.

The only experience I have with decals is putting them on plastic model kits as a kid, and that was a long time ago. And these decals are a bit larger.

I can recall adding the RCT and City of London insiginia to the RL's and Militants whilst I was with 215 RCT(VR) after vehicles wre repainted.

They were applied just like a model's decals - no overlay of lacquer at all. Used to use two people to ensure they were lined up correctly.

Clear coat over a decal...sunlight will yellow it in very short amount of time.
